Winter friends

Near the end of last year, I saw some great combos with the Trollbeads Polar Bear and I began eyeing it up as a possible addition to my winter bracelet. When my secret Santa parcel arrived in December, the beautiful blue ornament immediately went on my Christmas bracelet (which I still wear regularly!) But the parcel also had the Seal Family bead, which I thought would make a nice companion for the Polar Bear on my winter bracelet.

The problem: I still didn’t have a Polar Bear. And since the Polar Bear is retired, getting one wasn’t as simple as walking into my local dealer. But now that I had the Seal Family, I really wanted a Polar Bear!

While I was debating whether it was worth rejigging my January planned beads to buy a Polar Bear from one of the online dealers, I stumbled across the Ohm Beads Polar Bear and thought it was pretty darned cute too. Although it’s also retired, with a little more searching I found one, and on sale even! I snatched it up and a week later it arrived, just as cute as the stock photo.

Meanwhile, I pulled out my light blue and white glass and a few other silvers to represent the snow and cold. After the Polar Bear arrived and I had my bracelet all assembled, I still had space on the bracelet, so I went digging through my bead box again. Out came my pearls to represent the icy water and the bracelet was done.

Overall, I’m really happy with the small changes in this bracelet over last year’s version. And I like that the polar bear has a bit of a smirk on his face. It’s the perfect response to winter!

  1. Beautiful bracelet Tracey! I dislike winter but I love the cool blue colours, the pearls, whites and winter silvers…makes me find something to enjoy about this season!

    1. Thanks Cheryl :)

I really hated winter for the longest time, then started snowboarding and started looking forward to winter. But the last few winters have really tested my love for the snow and cold! :D I think that I started making winter bracelets as a way to find something to love about it again.
