Let’s pretend we’re furiously happy

I missed last week’s #weekendbeads theme (ice cream!) because we were camping. This week’s theme was bracelets inspired by books and I chose to do it (partly) on the book I just started called Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson, a.k.a. The Bloggess. For those who haven’t heard of her or her books, they are collections of humorous stories about her life, her depression and anxiety disorder, and her love for taxidermied animals. Maybe those don’t seem like funny topics, but she makes it work. Her first book, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, truly made me laugh out loud at times.

Since it is a collection of stories (and I’m only about 1/3 of the way through), it’s a bit hard to pick one theme from it, other than from the cover. Sparkles I can do, but I don’t have a raccoon bead and I think pretending that my Trollbeads Squirrel bead is a raccoon might be pushing it. So, I went back to Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. Mouse? Check. Grey, red, and white? Check. But, maybe still not quite enough for a theme. So, I melded the two books together, and came up with Let’s Pretend (we’re) Furiously Happy!

I ended up adding Love Stinks and Squirrel to represent the taxidermied animals and other wildlife that are mentioned at various times in the books. I added Stay Positive as a nod to the Furiously Happy title.

I think this the one time that I wish I had a Trollbeads Chicken – she has a giant metal rooster named Beyoncé that featured in the first book!

    1. Thanks Susan! They are interesting books. I suspect that some of the stories are embellished, but they are still entertaining :)

  1. I’ll take a look at the books too. It was such fun to see what books inspired people. I really wanted to do a Night Circus bracelet. It’s why I bought the Ohm Beads circus tent. But it remains a work in progress inside my head, as I really think I need Ohm’s Striped Suit to make it work.

    1. It was a great them – so many varied book choices :) And very inventive bracelets to match them!

I’ve heard of the Night Circus from a few people now, maybe I should add it to my list :D
